Clinical Psychology


Clinical Psychology department at Vydehi focuses on assessment, Psychotherapy and counseling of children and adults. A rapid evaluation process in the first session ensures that the clients are helped in obtaining the kind of intervention that is best suited for them.

Psychometrics: This involves a comprehensive assessment of psychological and cognitive functions to clarify diagnosis and develop appropriate management plans.

Interpersonal relations

Neuropsychological assessment: Assesses problems in the areas of attention, memory, thinking and decision making abilities, and behavioral and emotional problems arising due to brain damage.

Psychotherapy: This involves therapies aimed at enhancing coping and adjustment and promotes well being.

Individual psychotherapy (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Supportive Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, Behavioral Medicine etc.)

Family and Marital Therapy

Management of Stress, Sleep Disturbance, Pain and other medical conditions.
Life-skills training and promotion of positive mental health
Management of substance abuse and addiction and high-risk behaviors

Cognitive retraining: Method of therapy focusing on training to improve impaired/poorly developed mental skills or abilities (e.g. attention, concentration, memory, difficulty organizing ideas and actions, making decisions etc) following damage to the brain.

Pediatric services:
Department of Clinical Psychology is involved in psychometric and neuropsychological assessment of children and adolescents to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of disorders that affect intellectual, cognitive, learning, academic, personality and the emotional status of children. We take a holistic approach in evaluation and treatment of children by taking in to consideration the child’s environment (which includes family and educational setting). Family members are encouraged to actively participate in the child’s evaluation and treatment.
