Eligibility CriteriaTop


Degree / Diploma Programs
Applicants must meet all requirements stipulated by Medical Council of India. Accordingly, they should have successfully passed their M.B.B.S. from an institution recognized by Medcial Council of India and must have completed or completing their internship by 30/04/2009.

MCI / DCI Norms
Every student, selected for admission to the Post Graduate medical course in any of the medical institutions in the country, shall possess recognized M.B.B.S. degree or equivalent qualification and should have obtained permanent registration with the Medical Council of India or any of the State Medical Council or should obtain the same with in one month from the date of admission, failing which the admission of the candidate shall be cancelled.

Provided that in the case of a foreign national, the Medical Council of India may on payment of the prescribed fee for the registration, grant temporary registration for the duration of the Post Graduate training restricted to the college / institution to which the applicant is admitted for the time being exclusively for Post Graduate studies; provided further, that temporary registration to such foreign national shall be subjected to the condition that such person is duly registered as medical practitioner in his own country from which the he/she has obtained his / her basic medical qualification and that his / her degree is recognised by the corresponding Council or concerned authority in India.

As per the Post Graduate Regulation 2000 of Medical Council of India, the minimum percentage of marks in the competitive entrance test for eligibility for admission to Post Graduate Courses shall be 50% for General Category candidates and 40% for the candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes belonging to Karnataka State.

Period of TrainingTop


The period of training for the award of various postgraduate degrees or diplomas shall be as follows:

(1) Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) / Master of Surgery (M.S.) : The period of training for obtaining these degrees shall be three completed years including the period of examination.
Provided that in the case of students having a recognised two year postgraduate diploma course in the same subject, the period of training, including the period of examination, shall be two year.

(2) Diplomas: The period of training for obtaining a postgraduate Diploma shall be two completed years including the examination period.
