80% of the Total OPD coming to Vydehi Institute of Dental Sciences & Research Centre report to the Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics for diagnosis and treatment of dental caries, pain, food lodgement, tooth sensitivity, discoloured teeth, aesthetic restorations and root canal treatment.

The aim is to treat the natural tooth to help regain its form, function and aesthetics . In other words ‘to conserve the tooth’ as the department name implies.

The Department of Conservative dentistry has grown in leaps and bounds since the inception of the dental college in 2003.We welcomed the first batch of two post graduate students in 2009.They graduated in 2012.

The Department is one of the largest in the college and sprawls over almost 8000 square feet.

The infrastructure includes

Undergraduate clinic

Post Graduate clinic

Surgical room.

Wet and Dry sterilisation Areas: Sterilization room with latest B-Class autoclaves, hand piece sterilizers, glass bead sterilizer, ultra-sonic baths & needle destroyer.

Department Library with internet connection, Scanner and Printer..

Well equipped seminar hall with LCD projector.

Separate phantom head lab for undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Full-fledged metal and ceramic lab for indirect restorative procedures.

A full time Dental technician manages the lab.


Treatments are performed with nominal charges. The department is equipped with the state of the art equipment and the latest material. Treatment performed by students is supervised and guided by faculty.

The Department is home to dedicated teachers, actively involved in both teaching and clinical programs.

Research projects, participation and excellence at state and national symposiums are encouraged and appreciated.
