Overview
The Community Service Department was founded to deal with both healthy and diseased people in the community. The aim of the department is to prepare medical students to function as community and primary care physicians. To move towards the achievement of these goals, the department conducts many programs.
It provides Undergraduate Training and Post Graduate Training. It offers health services at the Health Centre in the nearby areas of Sarjapura, Kalkunta and Malasundra. It extends its health services by holding diagnostic camps, school health services and family health services (at Nullurahalli & Samethanahalli).
The Department has to its credit excellent infrastructure, good facilities, a good research background couples with trained and highly qualified manpower. The students who go through this course during their tenure at VIMS & RC are placed to look after the Family Medicine Departments of the institutions Urban and Rural Health Centres and at field practice areas to serve a three month period of internship.
