TB Patients to be provided Free Drugs Even in Private Pharmacies Soon

Many of us aren’t aware that the government of India provides free TB medicines to people at government authorised centres like government hospitals, DOTS providers, Community directly observed Treatment as a part of their efforts to eradicate TB completely from country. Further, there is good news around it. The highest drug advisory of India has considered relaxing the rules under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act.

Yes, this is a fact, a 17 year old teen had damaged his right eye due to the presence of a parasitic worm that was seen wriggling in and out of the eye ball of this teen when examined by the doctors in Mexico. Though, it was a little too late because the eye was already damaged by the time it was examined and the diagnosis was done and the boy had almost lost complete vision. The doctors tested his vision and came to know that he was not even able to count their fingers when held in front of the eye. The vision was blurred and he was able to see only hand motions. After complete eye examination it was found that the right eye was severly damaged.

The freely moving worm had created many holes in the iris and his right cornea was swollen and had blood spots. The worm could not be traced easily because it made these holes its safe haven. The doctors had to work hard in removing the worm from the eye and for the same they had to first remove the lens and the vitreous humor surgically. It further came to light during the surgery that the worm had also severely damaged the retina of the teen.

The worm was identified as fluke or a kind of termatode, usually found in species namely Schistosomagenus, fasciola and Paragonimus, but its particular genus wasn’t known because it was not under the included list of termatodes and was seen for the very first time. It had an overall length of 3 mm was removed in bits and pieces.

Post the surgery the teen was given anti-parasitic medicines as well but there wasnt seen any improvement as far as the vision is concerned even after six months post surgery.

Frozen Shoulder – Tips On Dealing With The Painful Shoulder Condition

Medically known as adhesive capsulitis, frozen shoulder usually affects only one shoulder. It is most commonly found in people with diabetic conditions. This condition causes the swelling of the articular shoulder capsule, swelling and stiffening of it and restricting mobility to an extent. Its medical name is derived from the Latin word adhaerens, capsula and it is meaning sticking, little container and inflammation respectively. This condition commonly occurs in the age group of 40 -60 years and most in women more than men.

Frozen Shoulder

A shoulder is made up of a speriodal joint. The other joint has a concave slaught where the round part of one bone fits in. Frozen shoulder is the consequence of thickening of the shoulder joints capsule due to the formation of the scar tissue there. This in turn results in tightening and immobility of the shoulder, even causing pain.

SYMPTOMS
The most common symptom is stiffness in the shoulder join and persistent pain. Frozen shoulder pain is divided into three stages namely painful stage, frozen stage and thawing stage.

Stroke – It also occurs amongst people who have suffered from stroke in the past
Other risk factors include Hypothroidism with overactive or underactive thyroids, Parkinsons disease and Cardiovascular disease.

TREATMENT
