Vydehi Rehab Centre under Yolanda G. Moreno’s magical spell

Yolanda Gama Moreno, Early Childhood Special Educationist (ECSE) is once again here at Vydehi Institute of Rehabilitation. She is specialized in visual rehabilitation.

Yolanda is going to be with us till March 18th and will be seeing all the specially abled kids enrolled with Vydehi Institute of Rehabilitation. She will be providing her expertise and valuable opinion for all these kids visual training and further rehabilitation (cognitive communication especially).

Staff Vydehi Institute of Rehabilitation will be getting hands-on training from Ms. Yolanda, during her stay.


President of Guyana Mr. Bharrat Jagdeo visits Vydehi

February 3, 2011 – His Excellency Mr. Bharrat Jagdeo, President of Guyana visits Vydehi Institute of Medical Sciences & Research Centre

His Excellency Mr. Bharrat Jagdeo, President of Guyana along with Hon’able Dr. Bheri S. Ramsaran Minister in Ministry of Health, Government of Guyana, on their day long visit to Vydehi Institute of Medical Sciences & Research Centre (VIMS & RC) on February 3, 2011. During his visit to the Institute Mr. Bharrat Jagdeo and Dr. Bheri Ramsaran, were shown around the Institute by the Director Mrs. D. A. Kalpaja and team of doctors, related to infrastructure, medical facilities, and administration and functioning within the Institute. Various issues were discussed by His Excellency Mr. Bharrat Jagdeo and Hon’ble Dr. Bheri Ramsaran with the Hon’ble Chairman Dr. D. K. Audikesavulu and the team of VIMS & RC.

During the discussions, we understand that there is a need to set up a super-specialty hospital in Guyana. In this connection, Vydehi Group of Institutions proposes to build and operate a super-specialty Hospital Infrastructure for a 250 bedded hospital along with paramedical training facilities. This super -specialty hospital will be supported by an emergency health care call centre.

The super-specialty hospital to be set up is proposed to be named as Rajeev Gandhi and Chetri Jagan Medical Institute & Research Centre.

His Excellency Mr. Bharrat Jagdeo, Hon’ble Dr. Bheri Ramasaran and the delegates from Government of Guyana were later treated with some exquisite cultural presentation by the students of VIMS & RC, followed by this Director of VIMS & RC Mrs. D . A. Kalpaja welcomed His Excellency Mr. Bharrat Jagdeo, Hon’ble Dr. Bheri Ramasaran and the delegates from Government of Guyana. Hon’ble Chairman Dr. D. K. Audikesavulu of VIMS & RC addressed the gathering and extended his services towards the Government of Guyana and its people. His Excellency Mr. Bharrat Jagdeo, spoke about the need for having the medical facility and the economic scenario. He reiterated the strong ties between the countries on various issues. This was followed by signing of Mou by Hon’ble Dr. Bheri Ramasaran, Minister in Ministry of Health, Guyana and Hon’ble Chairman Dr. D. K. Audikesavulu of VIMS & RC.

Milestone – Neurosurgery Department scores a Double!

The Department of Neurosurgery of Vydehi Institute of Medical Sciences, recently completed 200 major Neurosurgical procedures in 180 days. The Neurosurgery team of Dr. H. V. Satish Babu, Prof and Head and Dr. Ravi Khetan, Neurosurgeon along with the Anesthetists, OT, ICU & Ward and Neurosciences staff feel grateful to the Chairman Dr. D. K. Audikeshavulu and Director Mrs. D. A. Kalpaja for providing world class infrastructure to achieve this extra-ordinary feat of providing state-of-the art neurosurgical care at Vydehi Institute of Medical Sciences, Whitefield. During this period complex neurosurgical procedures like Vestibular Schwannomas, Post Fossa tumors, complex spinal surgeries, spine tumors, brain and spine injuries, pediatric neurosurgery and many other complicated surgeries were carried out by the team.

Brief of Rehab Day Carnival

Vydehi Institute of Rehabilitation celebrated its 7th Rehab Day on 18th December 2010. A carnival had been organized for special children, their parents and rehab staff at Vydehi campus playground. A range of games, food items & craft items stalls was arranged for adults and kids alike. Everybody enjoyed the fair and it was a great success.

Commodore Indru Wadhwani – President of Mallya Hospital, Major Gen. Dr. Anju Manchanda – Administrator of Vydehi Hospital presided over the celebration and encouraged the special children.

World Mental Health Day celebration 2010 at VINS & RC

Theme: “Mental health and long term illness: The need for continues and integrated care”

It was celebrated at Vydehi Nursing College on 14.10.2010.

The purpose of the event is to raise public awareness about mental health issues worldwide and promote open discussion illness, its preventive treatment.

The guest speaker was Mr. Mustafa Nadeem Kirmani, Cliniacl Psychologist Vydehi Hospital Bangalore. He spoke about the resilience skill training and Dr. Soumya Udupa , Neuro Psychologist Vydehi Hospital taught relaxation technique. The 2nd year MSC (n) students of VINS & RC present chronic physical illness like diabetes mellitus, hyper tension, Mental Illness and respiratory diseases and mental health. 2nd year GNM & 3rd year BSC(N) students planned activity therapy for psychiatry patients , the best 3 groups were awarded prize.
